18-year-old driver killed in crash in Decatur Township

An 18-year-old died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash in Decatur Township on Saturday.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a single vehicle accident on 36th Street, just north of 96th Avenue.

When emergency responders arrived, they located a heavily damaged Chevy HHR.

Both the 18-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The 18-year-old was flown Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

The passenger was transported by ambulance to Bronson Hospital.

The sheriff's office says the 18-year-old driver died from his injuries.
