18-year-old killed in Benton Harbor shooting, wasn’t the intended target
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – An 18-year-old male has died after being struck by gunfire Dec. 21, according to the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety.
Officers with BHDPS were responding to complaints of gunfire in the 800 block of Ogden Avenue and surrounding streets in Benton Harbor when, on their way to the scene, they were notified that a male was dropped off at the Spectrum Lakeland Emergency Room.
The 18-year-old male died at the hospital and it was later revealed that he died as a result of the gunfire the police were investigating.
Officials on the investigation said the 18-year-old was not the intended target.
This investigation is ongoing.
