18-year-old victim killed in shooting was not intended target, police say

BENTON HARBOR, Mich.—An 18-year-old man was killed in a shooting on Monday, according to the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety.

Around 1:40 p.m. on December 21, officers were sent to the 800 block of Ogden for multiple complaints of gunfire.

While on their way to the scene, officers learned that an 18-year-old man had been dropped off at a local emergency room.

The man later died at the hospital.

Police learned the victim had been struck during the shooting but officials do not believe the victim was the intended target.

During the investigation, several arrests were made for existing warrants but none of them were related to the shooting incident.

Police are still searching for suspects in the shooting.
