2,000 Pounds of drugs expected to be dropped off at St. Joseph County Jail

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --The St. Joseph County Jail was busy Wednesday, but it had nothing to do with crime.

Wednesday was the semi-annual Pill Drop.

Triad, of St. Joseph County, set up at two locations collecting unused or expired drugs.

Officials expected to collect about 2,000 pounds of pills, just at the jail.

The idea of the drop is to dispose of old pills safely.

Barbara Brownell, with Triad of St. Joseph County said, “It's every important because the pharmacies aren't taking the drugs back so you've got to have some place to dispose of them and we provide that service."

If you missed Wednesday's pill drop don’t worry, there will be another one in May.
