Underage subjects facing alcohol related charges following traffic stop

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. – Three underage subjects are facing alcohol related charges following a traffic stop in LaGrange County Sunday morning.

On Jan. 6 at approximately 12:12 a.m., officers with the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department were performing a traffic stop on 075 N on U.S. 20 in LaGrange, Indiana.

Marlin Miller’s vehicle was stopped by authorities for speeding. The vehicle, authorities say, was without a license plate.

A significant amount of alcohol was discovered within the vehicle during the traffic stop, police say.

None of the occupants inside the vehicle were 21 years of age and were asked to take a portable breathalyzer test. Three of the occupants were found to have consumed alcohol, authorities say.

Marlin Miller, 19, of Goshen, Indiana, a minor and Joanna Fry, 18, of Topeka, Indiana were taken into custody and booked into the LaGrange County Jail.

The minor was released into parental custody.

All three subjects were charged with Minor in Possession/Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages.
