20 animals killed in massive stable fire

Smithfield Stables manager Shelley Burdette confirms with ABC 57 News 17 horses, one pony, one donkey as well as one show dog were all killed in Tuesday night's stable fire in Cass County, Michigan.

The fire broke out just after 4 p.m. Tuesday along Elkhart Road in Edwardsburg. 

Edwardsburg Fire Chief Bruce Stack says a cause may never be determined.

Schools will still be closed Thursday in Edwardsburg, after being closed Wednesday due to a boil order in the village.

The school district plans on posting updates on its website and Facebook page.
