2013 Snow season less than last year

While up until now ( Jan 9th) there has been snow on the ground since Christmas. It has not been a great amount of snow, we've just been colder than last year, so what snow that has fallen has stuck around longer.

While last year was a below average snow year, January 2012 was actually above normal, and started out promising with a New Year snow storm. At this time last year ( Jan 9th) 9.3" of snow had fallen for the month, this year January 2013, has barely over a trace ( 0.1").

Even going back to the beginning of the 2013 snow season in October only 9.2" of snow has fallen so far, almost 20" below the normal of 27.6".

With a warming trend through the weekend, the snow we do have will melt. Our next chance of real accumulation is not until Thursday of next week ( Jan 17th)
