2014 Indiana State Fair kicks off

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The 2014 Indiana State Fair officially began on Friday.

For 158 years the State Fair has celebrated home-grown products from the state such as corn.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence was on hand to help celebrate what is being called "The Year of the Coliseum".

"We all have memories here at the Pepsi Coliseum, and because of the extraordinary commitment in the renovation of this facility, new generations of Hoosiers are going to be able to continue to make memories in this special place," said Governor Pence.

The event marked the completion of the $63-million renovation, which is the largest ever in the history of the fairgrounds.
