ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- At approximately 7:07 PM, St. Joseph County Police officers conducted a traffic stop near Hollyhock Road and Greenacre Street. Inside the vehicle was a person who had a 50-state full extradition warrant out of Indiana, was wanted on felony warrants out of Michigan and Colorado, and is believed to be connected to a recent local shooting.
When the driver fled, officers initiated a pursuit heading northbound into Michigan, where Berrien County deputies took over. After some time in Berrien County, the suspect re-entered St. Joseph County via Gumwood Road.
Officers deployed stop sticks, but they were unsuccessful. The pursuit then continued into Elkhart County before being terminated. Elkhart Police later located the suspect’s vehicle, which had been abandoned. A K-9 unit was called in to track the suspect.
This remains an active investigation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
