3-For-3 Triathlon

August 26, 2012

We are proud to announce the upcoming 3 for 3 Triathlon, hosted by The Center for the Homeless, YMCA OF MICHIANA, INC. and the Alcohol & Addictions Resource Center and taking place in South Bend, Indiana. These three agencies are joining forces to create what is sure to be the highlight of the summer season, and we hope that you can participate! Our 3 for 3 Triathlon will include the three traditional sports, but with a twist. For anyone who does not consider themselves a swimmer or is looking for an extra challenge, the option will be available to substitute a kayak for that leg of the race.

This first ever 3 for 3 Triathlon is set to show off the beauty of the St. Joseph River in summer! The swim will take place in the MICHIANA FAMILY YMCA pool. The kayak option (adults only) will be in the St. Joseph River between Indiana University South Bend and MICHIANA FAMILY YMCA. The bike course is relatively flat. The run course is a loop on the riverwalk between the MICHIANA FAMILY YMCA and Howard Park. Course maps will be available and are coming soon.

Youth Triathlon
Youth ages 7 to 15 are welcome to participate in a short-course event! Ages 7 to 11 will do a 50 yard swim and ages 12 to 15 will do a 100 yard swim. All youth age groups will do a 3 mile bike and 1/2 mile run.

Swim Start
Racers will be organized into "flights" based on their self-reported 100 yard freestyle swim time and staged in the Michiana Family YMCA gymnasium until their flights are called to the pool. Start times will be available at Packet Pick-up.

Kayak (Swim Alternative)
Adult participants ONLY will have the option to kayak the St. Joseph River as an alternative to the Swim segment. Entry will be at the boat launch between Indiana University South Bend and Michiana Family YMCA. ONLY Boats provided by the race organizers may be used.
