3 teens injured after vehicle rolls on County Road 17

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Three teenagers were injured after the vehicle they were in crashed alongside County Road 17 Sunday evening.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a 16-year-old was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee south on CR 17 north of CR 44 when he lost control on gravel and went off the road.

The Jeep rolled over once in a field and landed on its wheels.

Deputies say one of the passengers, 17-year-old Dalton Woolwine, was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital for a chest injury.

Two other passengers, 16-year-old Jerale Shepard and 18-year-old William Hayes, were taken to Goshen General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was not injured.

A ticket was issued for speeding following the crash.
