347 plants, 8 pounds of marijuana seized in grow house bust

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Investigators seized 347 marijuana plants and approximately 8.8 pounds of processed marijuana at a home on Mallard Drive in Bertrand Township, according to Michigan State Police.

Members of the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) and Berrien County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at 1645 Mallard Drive on Tuesday, August 15.

They had originally been called to the home for reports of a suspicious vehicle, but discovered signs of a marijuana grow operation and secured a search warrant.

While the search warrant was executed, a suspect fled the home, but he was later apprehended.

Inside the home, detectives found 347 Marijuana Plants, approximately 8.8 pounds of processed marijuana, and marijuana wax, and grow equipment, according to Michigan State Police.

The suspect, 41-year-old Byron Paul-Ricardo Sambat was arrested and arraigned on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, and maintaining a drug house.
