SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The 47th annual Indiana Consortium of State and Local Human Rights Conference began Tuesday in downtown South Bend.
Over 20 local and state agencies gathered for a reception at the Century Center Tuesday evening to network and share ideas.
This year's theme is Understanding and Addressing Human Rights and Civil Unrest, with organizers prioritizing people reconnecting in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and other events over the last few years.
The 2022 conference marks the first since 2019.
Events will continue through November 4 and include guest speakers Becky Richards, the first female tribal chairwoman with the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi, and Ms. Ilyasah Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm X.
Those interested in attending the conference can still do so but must register.
