6 people arrested in Syracuse by NET 43 drug unit

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- Six people were arrested Wednesday following an investigation into drug activity by Kosciusko County's unified narcotics investigation unit called NET 43.

Following up on complains of excessive traffic and possible drug activity, members of the unit conducted surveillance on a home in the 400 block of Ems D15 Lane on April 10.

Two of the subjects, Kerry Kern and Terry Dove Jr, were arrested during several traffic stops, according to investigators.

Angel Vining was taken into custody on a felony failure to appear warrant, reports said.

While arresting Vining on the warrant, investigators saw drug related items in plain sight in the residence, reports said.

A search warrant for the home was obtained. Investigators say they located paraphernalia, marijuana and methamphetamine in the home.

Jay Krauter, Vanessa Newman and Michael Gross were arrested as a result of the search.

  • Newman, 45, Milford, has been preliminarily charged with maintaining a common nuisance.
  • Krauter, 50, Milford, has been preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance.
  • Vining, 28, Syracuse, has been preliminarily charged with maintaining a common nuisance.
  • Gross, 67, Syracuse, has been preliminarily charged with maintaining a common nuisance.
  • Kern, 34, Syracuse, has been preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and driving while suspended.
  • Terry Dove, Jr, 35, Warsaw, has been preliminarily charged with driving while suspended $450 cash bond

NET 43 was assisted by deputies from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and patrolmen from the Milford, Syracuse and North Webster police departments.
