The republican candidate, Max Engling, defeated incumbent Diego Morales last weekend at the GOP convention.
"I'm in this because I want to make sure we uphold our conservative values and ensure election integrity here in the state of Indiana."
Engling is a 39-year-old father, who describes himself as a devout Christian and conservative. He worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, and is currently a staffer for Indiana U.S. Senator Jim Banks, who is backing his campaign.
He wants to tighten election rules and applauds recent voting restrictions made by Hoosier lawmakers.
"I'm in this because grass roots delegates came to me directly and said we need somebody that we can trust that we can run into the fall with and win so that we ensure our conservative values remain in this office."
