KENTWOOD, Mich. -- Two boys were playing on a playground in their Michigan mobile-home park when police say one of the boys took out a knife and stabbed the other one in the back.

 

The 9-year-old who was stabbed later died of his injuries.

 

Police are still trying to make sense of the incident.

 

"It's very difficult to understand. And I think all of us have children have a difficult time understanding how and why this occurs," said Chief Thomas Hillen.



Police have identified the 12-year-old as Jamarion Lawhorn.



He will be charged as an adult.
