9-year-old passenger dies in vehicle accident in Bremen
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department is investigating a car accident that happened at the intersection of State Road 331 and 3rd Road early Friday morning.
The crash happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. involving two vehicles.
Deputies say 34-year-old Francisca Ramirez and her 9-year-old son, Emiliano Zuniga were heading west on Oak Boulevard to cross State Road 331 onto 3rd Road.
55-year-old Julian Valadez was driving south on State Road 331 approaching this same intersection, according to deputies.
Ramirez drove into the path of Valadez’s vehicle and was struck on the passenger side, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
Ramirez was transported to Bremen Hospital for minor injuries.
Her son was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner.
A passenger in Valadez's vehicle was transported to Memorial Hospital for a head injury.
Valadez was charged with Operating a Vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or more, Causing a Death, and Operator Never Licensed.
His bond is set at $1505.
The investigation is ongoing.
