Assistant Chief Gebo to retire from Mishawaka Police Department

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Police Department announced the retirement of Investigative Division Chief Dan Gebo, just three days after it was announced Chief Ken Witkowski Jr. will also retire.

MPD stated Gebo will conclude his 27-year career on August 27.

Officials with MPD say he will not be going far, as he will remain an MPD reserve officer and will serve the Mishawaka public as a School Resource Officer for School City of Mishawaka.

Gebo began in the Uniform Division at MPD, before being transferred to the Neighborhood Enforcement Team.

In 2003, Gebo was promoted to Sergeant of the NET Unit, where MPD officials say his leadership qualities and success in the role earned him a promotion to Captain of the NET Unit in 2004.

In 2011, Gebo was appointed as Investigative Division Chief.
