Dog pulled from fire on Ewing Avenue

UPDATE: ABC57 spoke with the owner of the home, and they are very appreciative of the South Bend Fire Department and South Bend Police Department for rescuing their dog, Cain. Cain has smoke inhalation and some minor burns but is expected to make a full recovery.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Cain and the owner of the home.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Fire Department rescued a dog from a fire in the 500 block of West Ewing Avenue Thursday morning.

Crews were called to the scene just before 7:30 a.m. for the incident.

The dog was taken to an emergency clinic for injuries.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
