LINCOLN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Lincoln Township Police Department reports an arrest has been made regarding a homicide investigation stemming from an April 14 incident.
Police say on April 14 at around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to Ray's Motel at 4277 Red Arrow Highway after a man discovered his friend deceased in his room.
The victim has only been identified as a 62-year-old white man, who had reportedly been living at the motel for around two years.
The scene was then secured and processed by Lincoln Township investigators with assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was then taken to Western Michigan University’s Medical Facility for an autopsy, where preliminary findings determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.
Investigators then conducted numerous interviews and executed various search warrants, leading to a suspect being identified.
On May 9, police say they were continuing the investigation when the suspect was involved in an unrelated incident in Coloma Township.
During that interaction, the report states additional information was obtained and after a stand-off, the suspect, identified as a 34-year-old Coloma Township man, was arrested by the Coloma Township police.
