A new cookie flavor added to the mix for this year's Girl Scout line up!
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Girl Scout Cookie season is right around the corner. This program sells over 200 million boxes of cookies annually across the nation.
In Michiana alone, there are over 4,000 girls participating in the program this year. Girls grades K-12 can participate in the program, learning life skills to prepare them for the outside world upon graduation.
While Girl Scouts are most famously known for their cookie lineup, throughout the school year they learn a lot about how to run a business, leadership skills, as well as marketing skills.
This year a new cookie is in the mix! Exploremores, a rocky road ice cream inspired cookie, is added to the lineup along with some of the classics returning like Thin Mint, Caramel Delights, and more.
ABC57's Sidney Moore spoke with Amy Kanouse, the Volunteer-led Troops Manager who says each Girl Scout Cookie season sales are very dependent on the weather we see. She says that if its super cold and snowy, not as many people go to the booths that for the most part is planted outside of businesses.
But one way you can check the girl scout cookie sale spots is through the cookie spotter app or on the website at: Girl Scout Cookies® | Girl Scouts
