AAA said a new type of gas blend called E15 gasoline could be bad for some cars and will confuse customers.
It contains up to 15 percent ethanol. Auto-makers have approved fewer than 5 percent of vehicles to use it.
AAA said sustained use could damage vehicles by accelerating engine wear. This could void warranties.
The environmental protection agency approved E15's sale in June.
