SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A fire broke out around 1:00 Monday afternoon at the corner of Allen and Lincolnway West.
Crews responded to reports of thick black smoke billowing from a roof on South Bend's west side.
Firefighters say the home was vacant and boarded up.
No one was hurt.
"Showed up we had a call to a vacant home fire. When we arrived we had heavy flames and black smoke through the roof and the front door was all boarded up," said Battalion Chief Nick Teckler of the South Bend Fire Department.
Crews blocked off traffic on Lincolnway West for a short time to allow for parking for additional fire trucks.
