ELKHART, Ind. -- An abandoned house burned down in Elkhart Wednesday morning. It happened shortly after 12:30 on the 2500 block of Homewood Avenue near County Road 9.
Osolo Township asked for mutual aid, Cleveland Township, Baugo Township and Porter Fire Departments all responded to the request.
Although it was snowing, crews say the weather conditions had no impact on fighting the fire.
Officials knew the property was abandoned when they discovered there was no electricity or gas connected to the house.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
People living nearby say they've seen people going in and out of the house lately.
