SOUTH BEND, Ind - Republican mayoral candidate, Desmont Upchurch joined ABC57 News in studio to weigh in on the Democratic debate and discuss the hot topic of violent crime in South Bend.
Upchurch believes along with investment in law enforcement, there needs to be additional investment in conflict resolution programs.
Upchurch stated, "A lot of times this gun violence is happening with the younger youth. We need more activities for these youth we need the city to get behind activities that allow youth to be around coaches and mentors that can teach them how to have other solutions other than picking up a gun.”.
