Active pattern could impact Memorial Day weekend travel
If you're going to be travelling around Michiana, heading to Chicago, our hitting the beaches to the northwest, not only are you going to have to deal with traffic, but also the weather. The active pattern continuing for today could slow you down for a moment on some the michiana roads, including the toll road and I-94 in Berrien County throughout the weekend. Prepare for some downpours at times over the weekend. That could create slowdowns, especially on Saturday all across the area.
And if you're driving outside the area, say to Chicago, down to St. Louis, or even Detroit to the east, be ready for the same type of weather throughout the weekend. A stationary front over the middle third of the country will keep areas out west wet, so again, plan a little extra time for that long road trip this weekend.
Plan on some moderate, to even major, delays at the big airports in Chicago and even St. Louis or Kansas City. Flying to the Northern Plains, and even down south away from the weekend stationary front will most likely be the smoothest rides over the next several days. If you're flying out this weekend, check in frequently with your airline for flight updates.
