After dominating the Big Ten, Notre Dame Hockey looks towards NCAA Tournament
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- After completing a spectacular first season in the Big Ten, clinching both the Regular Season Title and Tournament Championship Title, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Men's Hockey Team earned a No. 1 seed in the 2018 NCAA Championship.
The Irish are set to play No. 4 seed Michigan Tech at 3:00 p.m. in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Friday, March 23. The game can be viewed on ESPN2.
Notre Dame finished the season 25-9-2, earning the top seed in the East Regional and will face Michigan Tech, who slimly made the field by winning the WCHA tournament title.
The Fighting Irish were the only team in the 16-team field to win both the outright regular season title, and tournament title.
This 2018 NCAA tournament bid is the third consecutive NCAA appearance for the Fighting Irish and the 10th in program history, nine of which have come under Head Coach Jeff Jackson.
In the last decade the Irish have made three Frozen Four appearances including 2008, 2011, and 2017.
Coach Jackson is 8-8-0 in the NCAA Tournament.
