Alcohol believed to be factor in one-vehicle crash on May Street

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. - Police believe alcohol may have contributed to a one-vehicle crash on May Street Sunday night that left one person injured, according to the St. Joseph Charter Township Police Department.

At 11:45 p.m., a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on May Street, near Woodward Avenue, when it left the road, drove up an embankment, went airborne and crashed into a tree, reports said.

The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Officers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The incident is still under investigation.
