Alcohol, drugs, tobacco seized by police at Mr. Fresh store
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Excise Police and South Bend Police seized alcohol, tobacco products, marijuana, suspected fentanyl/meth liquid and other items after serving a search warrant at Mr. Fresh on March 19.
South Bend Police suspected the retailer was selling alcoholic beverages without a license and illegal narcotics, reports said.
Following a six week investigation, excise police and South Bend Police served a warrant at Mr. Fresh on Portage Avenue.
During the search they seized alcoholic beverages, tobacco products containing Michigan tax stamps, suspected fentanyl/methamphetamine liquid compound, marijuana, syringes, glass smoking devices, digital weight scales, a firearm and approximately $18,000 in cash, reports said.
The store has a tobacco certificate through the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission.
Various Variety Store, the owners, are facing administrative violations and several people are facing possible criminal charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
