AMC theatres reopening with precautions in place
SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- AMC theatres are finally opening their doors back up after six long months of closure brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’m excited! Even though they’re old movies, I don’t care. I’m just glad to be out the house,” South Bend resident Domiqua Winters said.
“I’m just used to being somewhere to go every night and there’s been nothing,” South Bend resident Gary Briscoe said.
Over the last few months, AMC has monitored federal, state and local guidelines in order to open in the best and safest way possible for guests, by implementing new procedures and policies such as required mask wearing, smaller capacity sizes, distanced seating, and enhanced surface cleaning.
“When you buy your ticket they show you how far you are from other people on the website, so you know you’re not going to be close to anybody, and they said they improved their ventilation system to help with that too,” Briscoe said. “I’m just hoping that everybody’s safe you know? I’d hate for it to then bad you know what I mean.”
Movie-goers said that after being cooped up for so long, that they’re excited to finally see a movie on the big screen again!
“It means we can actually do something else besides sitting in the house and work, then you go to work, go home, go to work, go home, you get bored. Netflix, Hulu, all that, you get tired of watching that, you actually get to come out the house even though you got to wear these masks, at lease you get to come out of the house to see something different,” Winters said.
They said that most importantly, that they feel that they’re in good hands.
“I feel completely safe, if I didn’t feel safe I wouldn’t be here, so that’s why I came out to the movies I wanted to see something different and so that’s why I’m out here so I feel completely safe and I feel safe with the boundaries and coming out to the movies.
