ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- American Legion Bendix Aviation Post 284 donated a $4,116 check to the St. Joseph County Police Department K9 Unit to purchase protective body armor for three of its four K9 officers.

Previously, these three dogs did not have protective gear, but they'll now be equipped with lightweight, high-quality body armor for their duties.

Attendees at the event included members from American Legion 284, Auxiliary 284, and Sons of the Legion 284, along with representatives from the SJCPD K9 Unit, including all four K9 officers.
