Americans paid more than for gas in 2012

Americans paid more for gas in 2012 than at other time.

That is according to GasBuddy.com. The website said that the yearly average price for a gallon of gas was $3.63 a gallon. That is up from $3.51 in 2011.

The price hike is blamed on the increase in prices from supply problems in California and Superstorm Sandy.

The current national average is $3.40.

Locally, the average in South Bend is about $3.48. The price in Indiana is $3.45. In Michigan, drivers are paying about $3.52 a gallon.
