Apple's iPhone 5 finally hits the stores

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The much anticipated release of Apple's newest iPhone 5 is at finally here.

Folks in the South Bend area lined up to pick their new gadgets this morning at area retailers.

When ABC57 stopped by the AT&T store at Eddy Street Commons there were at least two dozen people waiting outside before the store opened.

Some people told us they waited more than three hours to get their hands on the new phone. And while they waited some played with their old iPhones and other Apple devices.

"I just want the iPhone5, so I figured I would get here before the rest of the people and guarantee I get one," said Notre Dame Student Matt Stephens.

Those willing to stand out in the cold for their new phone got a chance to warm up while they waited. Biggby Coffee even gave the dedicated Apple enthusiasts free drinks.
