Area high schools teams take part in historic lacrosse matchup

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- For the first time, the St. Joe Indians and Penn Kingsmen went head-to-head in lacrosse.

The players actually used to be teammates, that’s until they split up last year and started two different clubs.

Wednesday night they set friendships aside, and played at Arlotta Stadium at Notre Dame.

"It’s kind of nice to have another team in the area,” said St. Joe Coach Mike Williams. “We have a couple already, but another team to play us year in and year out, so we don't have to drive two hours to every one of our games."

The game had to be suspended in the 2nd quarter because of lightning.
