Area hotels booking up fast ahead of ND football season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The first home game of the Notre Dame season is just two weeks ago and hotels are preparing for the influx of fans.

ABC57 did some checking on Friday and learned that the Fairfield Inn across from the campus is sold out for the season. In fact, they sold out of all 119 rooms in just 10 minutes.

Fairfield says they expect 300 to 500 people for each home game.

"About 43 weeks prior to each game they open up on the system on the Marriott corporation and we take reservations that Monday at 10 a.m.," Barbara Tenney of Fairfield Inn said.

The Comfort Inn in Mishawaka also says they are sold for the big games and expect to sell out for season.

The hotel says they are getting calls from people on a daily basis looking to pick up cancellations.
