Armed bank robber makes getaway, South Bend police on the hunt

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Have you seen this man?

Police are on the hunt for an armed robber who hit a bank on Wednesday in South Bend.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Notre Dame Federal Credit Union at 2102 E. Ireland Rd.

Police said a man armed with a silver handgun came into the bank and demanded money. Tellers did as they were told and handed over the cash. That's when he took off and was able to get away.

Police said he got into a black Chevy Cavalier, driven by a white woman, that was parked nearby. The car was last seen traveling east on Ireland Rd.

The suspect is described as a black man with a full beard, wearing glasses, a baseball cap, and a blue T-shirt.

ABC 57 News was able to obtain multiple surveillance camera photos from police.
