Arrested IU student in Cairo to be detained for questioning

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- An IU student and two other American exchange students will be detained through the weekend for questioning on their involvement in the Cairo protests.

Twenty-one-year-old Luke Gates of Bloomington was arrested along with two others. The students are accused of throwing gas bombs during the protest.

The U.S. Department of State is working with officials to bring the students back to the U.S. Gates was scheduled to come home for Christmas right after the semester ended.
