ATF agents search South Bend home

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -

Special agents with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau and local law enforcement officers from South Bend and St. Joseph County surrounded a home early Tuesday morning.

An ATF special agent from Chicago tells ABC 57 the officers were executing a search warrant. The search started around 6 a.m. at the home in the 68000 block of S.R. 331. Agents rolled up to the home in an armored vehicle, which police say is standard practice to protect agents on scenes.

The heavy police presence shut down that stretch of road between New and Madison Roads for a few hours this morning.

ATF agent Robert Mosbisch says three children were in the home at the time of the search. They are now safe with their mother.
