GRANGER, Ind.--- Beacon Health System held a career expo for those interested in nursing on Friday. The event was held at its corporate office in Granger.
"I think the pandemic’s a double edged sword when it comes to the national nursing shortage that everyone is experiencing," said Sarah Paturalski, Vice President of Nursing at Memorial Hospital. "We had a shortage of nursing program students long before the pandemic happened."
Those interested in nursing say this event was a great way to get information on how to jump into the field.
"I’ve always wanted to care for someone and be a help and make a difference in someone’s life," said Danielle Coffey, who attended the expo. "It’s made that desire even stronger."
Officials are hoping this expo helped convinced those on the fence about a profession in healthcare to join Beacon. For more information on joining Beacon Health System, email [email protected].
