ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The St. Joseph County Airport Authority Board presented a $5,600 check to the Center for the Homeless this afternoon to support local veterans living at the Robert L. Miller Sr., Veteran’s Center on the campus of the Center for the Homeless.

Funds raised for the Veteran’s Center came from the South Bend International Airport’s ninth annual “Bears in the Air” program.

“The need for us to continue the ‘Bears in the Air’ program was crucial given the challenges brought about by the pandemic,” said Mike Daigle, South Bend International Airport’s CEO & Executive Director. “Because of the community’s generosity, we are pleased to be able to provide $5,600 in assistance to the veterans at the Robert L. Miller, Sr. Veteran’s Center. It’s been nine years since the Center opened and in those nine years our ‘Bears in the Air’ program has provided $61,600 in support to our local veterans.”
