ELKHART, Ind. - The cure for a heat wave just might be beach waves.
With the temperature rising, visitors are finding ways to beat the heat at Ideal Beach.
Assistant General Manager at Ideal Beach, Jai’Lin Parker, has been a lifeguard for more than three years. She says the park is taking extra measures to handle the weather.
“We do have plenty of first aid kits here," said Parker. "Our concession is cooled with AC, so we definitely tell our patrons if they’re feeling really hot, they’re allowed to go in concessions to cool off. We also have instant cooling ice packs too if somebody is really overheated. Things we can help provide people to be comfortable.”
Parker is reminding visitors - staying hydrated is important, and guests at Ideal Beach are allowed to bring coolers filled with water, juice and snacks.
As far as clothing items, swim shirts and water hats, she said it is very helpful as it protects one from the sun.
But the biggest thing Parker recommends is sunscreen and making sure you reapply constantly.
