MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Hundreds gathered Saturday afternoon at Ironworks Plaza for the Beef Bash, a celebration and remembrance event for Mike "Beef" Faulkner, a former School City of Mishawaka employee who passed away just over one year ago.
During his time as an employee, the Mishawaka Athletics Hall-of-Famer expressed his interest in presenting a live-sized Caveman statue outside of Mishawaka high school.
While Faulkner has passed on, his legacy will now continue through the statue.
All funds raised at Beef Bash will go directly toward creation of the statue, which is currently set to be unveiled by this time next year.
The festivities included two live bands, food, and even Beef Bash merchandise.
Organizers are proud that the event went well, and shared that Faulkner embodied the attributes of what the school wants the Caveman to represent; integrity, strength and the ability to forge ahead.
Beef Bash began at 4 p.m. and wrapped up at 10 p.m.
Anyone who wants to learn more information about Beef Bash and the school's efforts to create the statue in Faulkner's honor can do so here.
