NOW: BHDPS seeking legislative change to help end mobile nuisance parties

BENTON CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- ABC57 spoke with Deputy Director of the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, Michael Clark, on Monday about a police chase that happened Sunday morning.

The chase began at an illegal mobile nuisance party outside of a Phillips 66 gas station on Pipestone Road in Benton Charter Township.

Police estimate that around 400 people were at the party.

Clark says the department is still reviewing body cam footage from the event and the ensuing chase.

He adds they’re working with the city attorney to bring ordinances before the local legislative committee that would help curb these parties from happening in the future.
