Benton Harbor continues to be aided by Michigan’s Secure Cities Partnership
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- The Benton Harbor District Crime Prevention Squad has continued to grow their enforcement and community engagement by getting more guns off the street and hosting police-involved activities for the area’s youth.
The squad is a specialized police team made up by Michigan State troopers from the other four districts within the Secure Cities Partnership.
Between June 9 and July 4, the Benton Harbor squad made six arrests for carrying a concealed weapon, satisfied four felony warrants, a cocaine possession arrest, and satisfied one misdemeanor warrant.
The next police-involved event for Benton Harbor’s youth is the Second Annual Bike with a Cop from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Benton Harbor Boys and Girls Club Fettig Youth Center.
State troopers were also invited to attend a community peace rally on July 17 at the Blossom Acres Apartments.
