Ballot items in Berrien County for Michigan Primary Election

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- There are three items on the ballot for the Michigan Primary Election.

That includes a millage renewal for Lake Michigan College, which this millage would freeze current taxes for the following 20 years.

An admin ABC57 spoke with said the future of Southwest Michigan's workforce depends on whether or not the millage passes.

Another millage for Chikaming Township on the ballot would reduce taxes by three cents per every one thousand dollars for taxable property.

If this millage is approved, it wouldn't change your taxes for the next five years, but it would help raise almost seven hundred thousand dollars for road work projects for the future.

Benton Harbor has five candidates vying for the Commissioner's seat, including Mary Alice Adams, Tyrone Davis, Edward Isom, Emma Kinnard and Shaquille Turner.

The four that win this election will go up to the November's Ballot.
