BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Health officials for Berrien County provided a coronavirus updated on Wednesday, stating that numbers of the virus including positivity and hospitalization rates are trending downward.
Health officials are concerned, however, as new variants are popping up around the country and locally in Van Buren County and possibly already in Berrien County.
“It's been seen in states all over the country and we have every reason to believe it's in Berrien county, we just haven't identified it yet,” stated Nicki Britten, Berrien County Health Officer, “We have to continue to be vigilant, especially with these variants really changing the landscape.”
Berrien County residents are reminded to keep practicing coronavirus safety measures along with getting vaccinated when supplies become more available.
