Berrien County fundraiser for new and improved police equipment

A fundraiser is underway in Berrien County to help protect sheriff deputies after last month's deadly courthouse shooting.

The Berrien Community Foundation is hoping to raise $30,000.

With the money, they will buy the department new and improved bullet-proof vests and more secure gun holsters.

The foundation will donate $1 for every $2 the community donates up to $5,000.

"It was important for us to do something to help the community to respond and be that conduit where people could take action," said Lisa Cripps-Downey, Berrien Community Foundation President.

The fundraiser will be ongoing for the next three months.

You can donate online by clicking here or by mailing a donation to the foundation's office in St. Joe, Michigan.
