Berrien County Trial Court announces warrant amnesty program

The Berrien County Trial Court announced a bench warrant amnesty program for those with outstanding bench warrants for failing to appear and/or failing to comply with financial obligations. The amnesty program runs September 6 through September 16.

The person with a warrant will be allowed to appear without fear of being arrested.

If you wish to participate, you must

  • Appear at one of the Berrien County Courthouses between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. any time between Tuesday, September 6th and Friday, September 16th, 2016.  
  • Be able to make final payment in full on any outstanding balances.

Late fees will be waived during the amnesty period.

The Court will recall the warrant and dismiss any future contempt dates or charges for those cases when final payment is received. Individuals will be free to go, according to the press release from the Berrien County Trial Court.

This program is available to both felony and misdemeanor case types.

Payment may be made using cash, credit card, cashier’s check, or money order.

This program applies to Berrien County cases only.

If the individual has outstanding warrants or criminal charges in another county/state or for another matter in Berrien County, he or she may be taken into custody as a result.
