Berrien County voter assisted terminal open house

Berrien County has received new voting equipment that will be used in the November 7th election.

The new equipment includes a new look to the traditional paper ballots as well as some changes to the tabulators and voter assisted terminals.

In an effort to help educate voters on the new equipment, Berrien County will host two voter open house nights.

At these open houses, voters can observe a demonstration on the new equipment as well as having a chance to practice using the equipment.

Voters in need of assistance will also have the opportunity to try the voter assisted terminal (VAT) which has a touch screen, full audio, and ATI controller should the voter wish to utilize these. The VAT is also capable of allowing voters to use sip and puff devices, as well as paddles.

The open houses will be held as follows:

October 9th from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Lincoln Charter Township, 2055 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville

October 19th from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Benton Harbor City Hall, 200 E. Wall St., Benton Harbor
