Berrien County woman convicted in murder-for-hire plot
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. --- A Berrien County woman was found guilty of solicitation of murder Friday afternoon.
Alana Gonzalez, 59, was found guilty of hiring Quacy Roberts to kill her ex-husband’s girlfriend, Bonita Levi.
Gonzalez admitted in court that she hired the alleged hitman, but only to scare Levi.
Levi was dating Gonzalez’s ex-husband, Elvin Gonzalez, at the time, according to Berrien County Prosecutor Steve Pierangeli. Levi and Gonzalez are now married.
The jury took one hour to find Gonzalez guilty of the charges. The sentencing hearing is set for January 14th.
